Belts are a common standard for martial arts. You may have seen martial artists wearing them to and from their lessons. Here’s what the belts mean and represent.
The white belt is a symbol of birth. It means that the wearer is someone new to the art and that they’re seeking knowledge that the art can offer them.
This is the first belt that all artists receive.
Once some basics have been met, martial artists are given the yellow belt. The yellow symbolizes the sun which offers new strength.
The third belt that a martial artist earns is the orange belt. This also symbolizes the sun but in a different way. Whereas the yellow belt symbolizes a new sun, the orange belt symbolizes a sun that is more mature. It’s strong enough to warm the earth.
This shows that the wearer has learned a good deal of skills but is still gaining more knowledge.
After a martial artist has learned all of the basics in their particular school of martial arts, then they’re able to receive the green belt. This belt symbolizes a seed that was warmed by the sun. The seed has started to grow.
There are two interpretations of the blue belt. The first is the sky. It indicates that the wearer is growing their skills upwards. They’re honing and refining their abilities. The second symbol is a growing tree. The seed has sprouted and is growing into a strong and healthy tree.
This indicates that the martial artist is refining their skills in karate in Warrington or other martial art schools.
The start of the next phase begins with the purple belt. This is when learning starts to gear towards the black belt. Advanced techniques and lessons begin. It symbolizes change in its pure form. The wearer is inching closer to mastery and changing as a result.
This belt is given right before a black belt. It symbolizes maturity. It’s the point in which a farmer is about to harvest its crop after all of their hard work.
At long last, the final belt is the black belt. It’s the final goal for any martial artist. This belt symbolizes that the wearer is able to teach students in the form of martial arts in Montgomery County, PA, that they mastered in.
The belts don’t end there either. There are different levels of black belt to achieve. Then there are samurai belts to achieve after that. Only once all belts are awarded can the artist be considered a true master.
